The all-new Kia Sorento is officially one of the safest SUVs on the road after it was awarded the maximum 5-star safety rating in the latest Euro NCAP crash test results.
Incorporating a monocoque chassis which was developed from the ground up to have inbuilt safety for all road users – not just drivers and passengers – in mind, the new Sorento scored 87 per cent for Adult Occupant Protection, 84 per cent for Child Protection and 71 per cent for Safety Assist equipment. The new Sorento becomes the third model in the Kia line to enjoy a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.
Developed to provide the highest levels of occupant protection in real-world accident scenarios, all European models will feature Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard with TCS (all-speed Traction Control System) and BAS (emergency Brake Assistance System).
The new Sorento will also come equipped as standard with twin front, front side and full-length curtain airbags (to protect the occupants in all three seat rows), height-adjustable front seatbelts with pretensioners and belt load-limiters, plus three-point seat belts for all middle row and back row seat occupants. In addition, all Sorento models in the UK will come with ‘active’ front seat head restraints to protect against whiplash injuries.
