Kia’s new Soul already has a sister in the wings with the new Soul’ster concept unveiled at this year’s Detroit Motor Show in January.
The Kia Soul’ster open-air concept, a variation of the highly anticipated Kia Soul urban crossover, debuted at the 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).
A fun, affordable convertible designed for the young and young at heart, Soul’ster is practical and stylish with attitude.
The two-door concept with roadster roots, Soul’ster has a two-piece top which enables passengers to expose the front and back seating areas independently. The roll bar serves a dual purpose and includes a place for the slider tracks, while providing protection not found in traditional convertibles.
Soul’ster’s individual character incorporates lighting that shines through with an amber glow under the headlamps. The side vents, side-mirror turn signals, unique LED headlamps, fog and tail lamps incorporate blue shades. Non-floor-mounted cantilevered seats project the illusion of being suspended in space when viewed from the side allowing for increased rear legroom.
